To troubleshoot Ethernet network connectivity issues, you can follow these systematic steps:

Physical Checks

Check Ethernet Cable:

  • Ensure the Ethernet cable is properly connected to both the ethernet port and the vMeasure device.
  • Inspect the cable for any visible damage. Try using a different cable to rule out cable faults.

Check Ethernet Port:

  • Verify that the Ethernet port is not damaged.
  • Try connecting to a different port on the router or switch.

Check IP Configuration:

  • Open a command prompt (Windows) or terminal (macOS/Linux) and type ipconfig (Windows) or ifconfig (macOS/Linux).
  • Ensure the Ethernet adapter has a valid IP address. If it's showing an address like 169.254.x.x, it means it didn't get an IP from the DHCP server.

Test with Another Device:

  • Connect another device to the same Ethernet cable and port to see if it gets a connection. This helps determine if the issue is with the computer or the network.

By following these steps, you can systematically identify and resolve most Ethernet network connectivity issues.
